Today was filled with a myriad of emotions. The day began with a feeling of excitement as we packed our bags and prepared to leave ZhongHe; it was time for an adventure in YingGe.
When we arrived, a ceramics and tie dye expert, Chen老師, introduced us to the olden streets of YingGe. Soon, we reached his ceramics shop. There, we began our tie-dye lesson using the ink generated from a leaf and onto a pure cotton cloth (talk about eco-friendly dyeing)!
After our tie dye session, we also got the opportunity to practice molding clay! For many of us, it was our first time using the machine, so it was a very entertaining time for everyone!
Last but not least, we traveled to another city, where we each handcrafted our very own croissants! The entire experience was fun, buttery, and delicious.
Every school split into groups to explore the area in the pouring rain (emphasis on the “pouring”), visiting various gift and food shops. Soon reconvened at a nearby temple. It was time for all five schools to part ways. Everyone began exchanging embraces, goodbyes, and smiles - knowing that this really isn’t a goodbye, but a see-you-again. Nevertheless, it was a bittersweet moment for all members and team leaders.
Parting ways:
When we arrived at our school, JCJH, another feeling of anticipation arose. We have reached the bulk of our adventure, nearing the climax of our story here in Taiwan. We toured the school with the school superintendent, planned our teaching schedules, and prepared for our upcoming two weeks.
